Birds and Feathers: A general overview.  More detailed interpretations depend entirely on where Birds/feathers are, what is happening around them, etc.  Also, feathers and birds, their characteristics can indicate whom we are associating with, our motives, intentions as well as theirs.

Ravens:

Physical: Prankster/trickster, game player. Political type

Emotional: Laid back, seeking to meet immediate needs, not interested in planning for future.

Spiritual: Knowing where the “power” is. Seeking access to things and knowledge of power. Engaged in Power struggle.  (This can be helpful or harmful.  Raven is by nature, seeking the mystery, but often playing it tongue in cheek.  Raven sometimes tricks himself.)

Crows:

Physical:  In the presence of Elders, Ancestors

Emotional: Seeking peace, needing reconciliation, finding a place among peers.  Being “put in one’s place” by an episode embarrassing in nature. Crows have a definite hierarchy.  Those who step out of line are “outcast” or stomped.  Redemption is slow and hard to come by.

Spiritual: Seeking redemption. Searching the past for methods that work.  (Crows represent the Ancestors who lived where we walk and dream.  Crows gather to share information with each other and with us) Following a crow indicates the dreamer is seeking a location or item from a past life, civilization and crow leads to where these things are waiting.

Parrots:

Physical: Loud, territorial, flamboyant, strong. Conversely, able to quietly sit back and say nothing until the exact right moment, and then making the most out of a dialogue.

Emotional: Uncontained, struggling to keep things in order for the sake of appearances.  Revealing (despite all best efforts to the contrary) exactly what is on your mind.  Needing  to be admired, willing to work for it. Outspoken.

Spiritual: Exploring more in-depth  issues. Looking for hidden meanings (sometimes to excess!). Parrots take the dreamer to places hidden, overgrown, tropical, remote.

(Note: Almost every part of our existence has multiple facets/meanings.  Searching for these should result in a harmonious collection of insight/inspiration, not a constant state of replacing one value for another.  We should, in the end, have more, not less, that we can understand and appreciate.)

(*Dreaming of parrots (several) indicates that the dreamer may be in the company of people who only tell them what they want to hear.  Or who are reciting the words of another to appear more knowledgeable than they are. )

Wrens:

Physical: Both independent and highly social.

Emotional: Observer more than team player. Holding themselves to  a higher standard, facing greater hardships and challenges to gain strength. Intolerant of laziness or self-pity.

Spiritual: Opening doors to other worlds, revealing more possibilities. (Narrow-minded people dreaming of wrens are put to the test of their narrow beliefs or prejudices and only survive when they harness the power of their faith, trusting to a higher power, the outcome of their endeavor/journey.) One learns from wren to find the best, strongest part of themselves.

Magpies:                                                                                                               Physical:  Endurance, highly capable, hidden talents

Emotional: Able to overcome adversity with strength and grace.  A doer, not a complainer.  (Others seem surprised at the finish line to see Magpie was already there!) Magpie is underestimated by others. That is a distinct advantage.

Spiritual: Rising above conflict.  Peacemaker.

(Dreaming of Magpies often indicates that the dreamer must put more into developing latent talents or using their already known gifts/talents.  The Contrary of Magpies is that if one does not use or appreciate their gifts, Magpie will take it or hide it from them.  This could manifest as writer’s block, or other talent stagnation. )

Sparrows:

Physical: Hard working, traveler of great distances. Often Teachers, leaders, organizers.

Emotional: Yearning to travel, enjoys music, singing, poetry. Humorous.  Ready to laugh or needing a good laugh.

Spiritual: Astral traveler, able to foresee events, or know of places some distance away. Intuitive.

Feathers of any of the above birds:

Indicates that the dreamer is seeking those qualities or needs those aspects to fulfill their sense of purpose, dedication.  Feathers indicate the dreamer’s self-esteem is not at it’s strongest point.  Feathers lend us the strength of flight, and enable us to rise above our current self-image.

Feathers of a Raven, for instance, indicates that a person should be more cautious in how they play.  That if their humor is derived from the embarrassment or suffering of others, they could easily come to know “the other side of that game”.  Those who lie or gossip, seek attention, become revealed when raven feathers mock them in their dreams. Those who tell the truth, own up and are accountable, can hold raven feathers in one or both hands, and feel their strength.

Feathers of a crow would indicate a need to follow more closely, (heed) the teachings of an elder or learn more about the history of a place/people through personal research.  (Often, people researching their genealogy will find crows and crow feathers appearing in their dreams.)

Feathers of a Parrot indicate a need to find greater understanding through self-discipline.  Holding back and letting others speak to conclusion.  Listening more closely to the ideas of others and gaining insight there from. Learning from the mistakes of others. Adding just a bit more “flair” to one’s expression or appearance. Guarding against being too showy or egotistical, choose your words carefully.

Feathers of a wren indicate the dreamer will face huge challenges and should prepare on many levels to meet these challenges.  Generally, a series of challenges.  The best possible outcome is a sense of humor about oneself, without being negative.

Feathers of a Magpie indicate that you have an unseen ally who is watching over you.  Your success is not yours alone, it is through the efforts/assistance of others.  You are meant to succeed, you must do your part.

Feathers of a sparrow indicate that the dreamer has much to offer others.  Make certain as you can, that it is not wasted on those not able to appreciate it.  If you have sparrow feathers in your dream, know that just because you can see the problem someone else is having doesn’t mean it is your job to solve it. (They must be willing to help themselves).  Self-esteem of this dreamer would indicate that they are under appreciated by those around them. Can be easily manipulated into sacrificing time and energy for others.  Therefore, volunteer less, observe more.  Wait and see who comes to you for assistance.  Your value cannot be based on “what have you done for me lately” types.  Value respect over credit, but do not allow others to take credit for your work.

Animals:

Often when we dream of animals, our spirit is either taking on aspects of the animal and we dream we ARE the animal, or we are faced with animals and must learn their meanings to understand ourselves better. Animals are always messengers of specific aspects.

Cougars/Mountain Lions:

Physical: Agility, quick minded, perceptive, aggressive/strong, intuitive. Able rescuer.

Emotional: Caring, loyal to a fault, loner, slow to trust, quick to laugh, overcomes betrayal with humor.  Often gullible, (that is why they try to protect themselves by being loners).  Those who mistake trust for weakness in Cougar dreamers, learn the hard way when cougar confronts them directly.

Spiritual: Retriever of  wounded/lost spirits, finder of information from “the other side”.

(Question to the dreamer: Are you putting yourself in danger or giving away too much of your energy to an area that only drains you? Cougars can only be rescued by other cougars. If you are in a draining or abusive relationship, you must deal with it yourself.  No one will do it for you.)

Jaguar:

Physical: Great strength, reclusive type, agile, protective of others (fragile or weak). Intolerant of transgressors. More menacing or strong in appearance than they actually feel within.

Emotional: Aggressively playful, bored with/intolerant of  ignorance. Elitist (often).  Humor at the expense of an opponent often creates greater enemies for Jaguar to contend with.  Jaguar measures strength by the level of battle fought. (Dreamer could be picking fights because they are bored)

Spiritual: Seeking the esoteric, remote, hidden places of knowledge and teachings.  Healer when art of detachment has been mastered. Jaguar dreamers are travelers, seekers, sometimes they get lost exploring new things/places, but eventually they find their way home.

(Question to the Dreamer: Are you getting lost in your own reverie or research and neglecting those around you? Or are you becoming too involved in the suffering of others, rendering yourself as a victim also in need of healing ? Perhaps it is time for a reality check around the house.)

Panthers:

Physical: Great balance, stealth, and speed. Escape artists.

Emotional: Restless in nature. Protective, easy going for the most part, finding resources and information with relative ease. Obsessive in focus. Preferring the night time. Dangerous alliances. Can abandon familiar habits or places with relative ease.

Spiritual: Guiding others who traverse the “other side” warning of dangers unseen.

(Questions to the Dreamer: Are you obsessing on something or someone to the point of being unreasonable?  Have secrets been told to you and now you must deal with it? Are you restless, about to lose all you have worked for because you are becoming reckless or thoughtless?)

Lions:

Physical: Strong, aggressive, craving youth and all things young, i.e., vigor, agility, confidence. Very perceptive. Either a team player or a strong leader.  Weakness is not an option with anything Lion.

Emotional: Territorial.  A team player, social, sometimes social climber, needing reassurance. Frequently comparing self  to others. Vain. Works hard, plays hard. Non-complainer. Dislikes change.

Spiritual: Relying on allies, having strong, able allies, highly aware of surroundings, potential; Outcome is generally expected one. A good ally to other strong ally types.  Seeking comfort (peace) in life.

(Question to Dreamer: Are you finding you are in need of a change?  New location? New friends? New interests? Are you battling to stay in the status quo when everything you see tells you it is time to go?  Are you struggling to retain your youth at the expense of your appreciating where you are now in life?)

Tigers:

Physical: Showy, observant, strong, predatory (ruthless)

Emotional: Manipulative, cunning, loner, not trusting of others, dislike of teamwork. Vicarious pursuits, critical of others, (armchair quarterback) Wanting to look important, but not do anything that would be important.

Spiritual: Reclusive, secretive, seeking the path next to the path, observing others experiences. Vicarious.

Lest we think tiger is a bad thing… remember that some jobs don’t get done any other way.  Some people have to be (initially) conned or manipulated into learning or doing for themselves.  The trick is to learn, and not be a perennial slave.  Tiger actually does more work trying to look important and impress others. Creating and sustaining an illusion of importance is a high maintenance pursuit. Tiger is suited for this work better than most.  Tiger moves on to new “prey” as soon as the old game is wise to him/her.  So should the “old game” move on, lesson learned and the wiser for it.  Tiger teaches us what we most need to learn in order to save ourselves from… tigers!

Roads, Streets, paths,… dead ends

Physical: Where we are going in this world, and where we have been.  Whatever the condition of the road, street or path in our dream denotes whatever our life is doing presently.  Bumpy is struggling, smooth is coasting, treacherous is problems or overwhelming obstacles.

Emotional: How we conduct ourselves.  Are we making things more difficult than they need to be?  Are we searching for answers, running in circles? In a strange place with familiar signs?

Spiritual: Our chosen belief system.

Ultimately, each road, path, street will lead us to another destination.  We need to better understand the “map” of this in order to use the information in our dream. Signs along the way are very informative. Try to recall them. Getting lost or “not able to get there from here”  situations indicate the dreamer is not on their own path, rather they are pursuing pleasing someone else, who generally cannot be pleased or pleased for long. Someone else’s constant state of crisis could leave the dreamer “driving in circles” or encountering bizarre obstacles en route.  Only one way out of this maze, do your own work, let others do their own work!

DEAD ENDS:

Physical: Need change in career, or lacking a plan.

Emotional: Going through a loss, grieving, trying to get over or passed an emotional hurdle of immense proportions.

Spiritual: Needing to rest.  Need to reconsider where one is going and how best to get there or to change course altogether. Resume only when the plan is more clear.

Pregnancy:

Physical: Check your calendar!  Impending due date for child or project.  (Creative, Creation, Creativity)

Emotional: High expectations, creative endeavor. Project nearing completion.

Spiritual: Naiveté, about to realize something of a large magnitude on a personal or greater level.

Children:

Physical: Responsibilities.  Projects that need your guidance to reach a good outcome.

Emotional: Immature, needy behaviors.

Spiritual: Trusting, gullible, pure at heart, vulnerable.

Death:

Physical: Ending of relationship, ending of life.

Emotional: Ending of suffering, ending of happiness, ending of relationship…

Spiritual: The ending of one episode to allow the beginning of another.

Often Death is not death in the physical sense.  It most often portrays the ending of something or the preparation for the beginning of something new.  Old ideas die, relationships end, problems are solved, children become grown, all of these and more, can be perceived by the dreamer as death, but in reality, it is merely the end of something in life, not of life.
