The Value of Dreams
Dreams have guided, enlightened and inspired mankind since the dawn of time. Ancient peoples, in cultures vastly different from one another, valued dreams and dreamers as their guides and shamans.
Primitive people, those closest to the earth and the balance of the Universe, used dreams to guide them to and through uncharted wilderness. In this way they were able to find new homelands, better hunting, safer ground.
In modern times, inventors, scientists, and researchers have all resolved problems, developed workable theories, and discovered cures and answers to make life better. The sewing machine, the Benzene molecule, the cotton gin, and the location of hidden treasures have all come through dreams.
Everything we see, hear or touch in our world today is made possible because someone, somewhere, dreamt it. Everything in this world comes through the doorway of dreams.
"When we are born, we waken unto the dream of life. When we die, we waken from this dream." --Running Deer
True, most dreams are mundane, dealing with everyday reflections, but these too, hold value for the dreamer. To discard as irrelevant or meaningless or even foolish, the messages of dreams is to waste one of the most powerful resources given to mankind.
Learning to understand the complex and the simple symbols and meanings of our dreams can only assist us in moving forward in our lives, and give us more to offer the rest of the world while we are at it.
Most important are the dreams of children for they carry the most unfiltered information, purer in form and meaning, than those of some more skeptical, cynical or embittered lives. When your children share their dreams with you, you are being given a priceless gift of wonder and insight. Encourage your children to dream their dreams.
The Dream Hat offers tools and methods for learning more about understanding and interpreting your own dreams, and the dreams of others, with the emphasis on "learning." We must learn more about our dreams and by so doing, learn more about ourselves and our world.
Dreams will show us where our focus is, where it needs to be, and to where all this will lead. Dreams enable us to make more informed choices on our life’s path.
In this day and time, many of us value aspirations and material success. These are hollow without the guidance of dreams and visions. It is, after all, dreams and visions that give meaning to our lives and our world.
Our dreams and the dreams of others create this world, and can create a better world if we learn where to apply our energy and focus.
Allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to believe in dreams. It costs nothing and the rewards are priceless!
