OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Living and Learning School's mission is to provide a creative, empowering learning environment that stimulates children's curiosity, allows each child to develop his or her own interests and encouraging skills for life long learning. We create a learning community with our students, supported by parents, teachers and community volunteers. Committed to this, our parent-run school builds on the B.C curriculum with an emphasis on social and environmental responsibility. THANK YOU

To this end the Living an Learning school's society promotes:

• Small class sizes
• multi-age classes
• an open-minded, non-competitive, co-operative atmosphere of respect
• on-going community building, conflict resolution and team work
• child-centered,  individualized learning acknowledging a diversity of learning needs
• recognizing that children learn at different rates and encouraging each child to develop a sense of responsibility for his or her learning
• student self-confidence, self-discipline, problem solving and critical thinking
• a thematic approach to curriculum encouraging hands-on contextual learning
• involvement of students in individual and group goal setting and evaluation
