The Solarus Infrared Sauna utilizes infrared heat. Infrared heat waves reach the body directly without having to heat the intervening air inside the sauna. With this system, breathing is more comfortable and the atmosphere inside the sauna is more enjoyable than in conventional saunas. Because the infrared heat energy is warming the body directly (and not the air, walls and fixtures within the sauna), a lower temperature setting can be used to achieve the desired results in a short session of 20 to 30 minutes.
The emitters used in the Solarus Sauna are zirconium ceramic emitters filled with crystalline silica quartz and a proprietary blend of crystals, a superconductor. When this combination of natural-and naturally derived-substances is heated by a resistance wire running through the embedded quartz crystals, the energy output of the combined heated materials corresponds in FAR-infrared wavelength to our body’s own. Our bodies absorb up to 93% of the energy output created by these emitters. The energy penetrates our tissues gently and effectively to a depth of about 1 1/2 inches, pulling toxins and heavy metals out through the sweat induced by a typical 30-minute sauna session. (Take it for what it’s worth!)
Health benefits from using a sauna are believed to be:
Stress reduction as the body’s muscles relax. You’ll feel rejuvenated and renewed, restored in both body and mind.
Increased blood circulation stimulates the sweat glands, releasing stored toxins and wastes. Daily sweating helps detoxify your body as it rids itself of an accumulation of toxic elements. The profuse sweating achieved in the infrared sauna carries off deeply embedded impurities and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing and immaculately clean. Increased circulation draws your skin’s own natural nutrients to the surface
The deep heat of an infrared sauna helps peripheral blood vessels dilate, bringing relief and healing to muscle and soft tissue injuries. In Europe, radiant heat therapy is widely used to treat patients suffering from many forms of arthritis. It has been proven effective in the treatment of sprains, neuralgia, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and many other musculoskeletal ailments. Muscles relax most readily when tissues are warm, promoting greater flexibility and range of motion. Much of the stiffness, aches and soreness that come with aging is reduced or eliminated.
As your body increases sweat production to cool itself, your heart works harder pumping blood at a greater rate to boost circulation, providing the conditioning benefits of continuous exercise. Heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate increase, while diastolic blood pressure drops, thus boosting overall cardiovascular fitness.
