Our network of trails offers a variety of adventures, from half-hour walks along well-groomed paths to strenuous, overnight treks along remote coastlines. Climb an ancient volcano at Tow Hill, savour the river and beach ecology of the Pesuta shipwreck trail, marvel at the old growth forest and culturally modified trees on the Louise Dover Trail....just a few of the hikes available here.

While the people of the Charlottes consider the entire archipelago to be special, there are several protected areas, internationally recognized as environmental jewels. These include ecological reserves, Naikoon Provincial Park, Duu Guusd Tribal Park, Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary and Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve Haida Heritage Site with the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Sgang Gwaii.

The Queen Charlotte Islands are most well-known as the home of the Haida people, whose distinctive culture colours all aspects of island life. The Haida communities of Skidegate and Old Massett have fine examples of contemporary poles, cedar canoes and longhouses- art exhibits are commonly featured.

The museums of Haida Gwaii feature Haida art and culture as well as the history of homesteading, settlements, and industry, some dating back to the turn of the century. The remote ancient village sites are open-air museums where evidence of poles and longhouses remain.
